John Tasker Electrical Services receives Amtech’s prize van!

"...we really didn’t expect to win the competition.”
Following the prize draw in January to select the winner of the Amtech Contractor Directory Prize Draw, John Tasker Electrical Services has been presented with a brand new Mercedes-Benz Vito panel-van, complete with sign writing and up to 5 years free servicing.
“I was amazed when I received the telephone call from Amtech to say we had won the prize,” said John Tasker. “We entered our details onto the Contractor Directory because we could see this will be a very useful source of advertising for our business, we really didn’t expect to win the competition.”
John was one of the many contractors to enter his company’s details onto Amtech’s new, free Contractor Directory (www.amtech.co.uk/directory). Following a huge response, his name was drawn from entries to win a package valued at over £23,000 (in association with Mercedes-Benz commercial vehical dealer Intercounty Truck & Van Ltd).
The prize was presented by Amtech’s Chief Executive Mark Tindall, who commented: “This is a great prize and I am really pleased that it has gone to a company where it will make a real difference to their day to day work”
Professional Electrician Editor Jonathan Cole who also presented the prize to John Tasker adds his congratulations: "Congratulations to John Tasker, this is an excellent and very practical prize that will prove to be a real asset over the next few years."

John Tasker had worked for the local electricity board since leaving school and took early retirement when the energy industry was restructured in the early 1990s. “I got bored with retirement after a short while, so I set up my own company in 1996,” he recalled.
Based in Shrewsbury, John and his son are mostly involved in domestic installations, repairs and maintenance throughout Shropshire and include a number of housing associations amongst their regular customers. Their business has continued to do well during the recent economic turbulence and they are now intending to take on an apprentice in 2012.
John predicts that the new van will be a real asset to the business: “We’ve had a smaller van for some time and if we hadn’t won this prize we probably wouldn’t have got round to replacing it for quite a while.
However, with more storage space we can carry more materials and spares for maintenance work, so
there will be fewer trips to the wholesaler. That will result in time savings for us and a faster service for
our customers,” he concluded.
Amtech’s brand new Contractor Directory is a valuable tool available to all electrical, HVAC and plumbing
contractors for FREE, enabling them to increase their exposure to a wider audience and win more
business. With over 45,000 visits per month, the imminent directory will be hosted on the industry leading
information portal LuckinsLive.com, set to become the first port of call for businesses and householders
looking for specialist skills.
